The Kenema Handkerchief Taiyaki is a traditional Japanese hand-dyed cloth, featuring the beloved motif of taiyaki, a popular Japanese fish-shaped pastry filled with sweet red bean paste.

The design on this handkerchief depicts taiyaki, a culturally significant and nostalgic treat in Japan. Taiyaki is often enjoyed during festivals and as a street food treat, making it a beloved part of Japanese culinary culture.

The handkerchief is made from Tenugui fabric, which is known for its quick-drying properties. Measuring 44 cm square, it is a practical and versatile size. This makes it not only a handy handkerchief but also suitable for use as a lunch mat, adding a touch of traditional Japanese flair to your mealtime.

Kenema handkerchief are crafted using the chū-sen dyeing technique, a method that is predominantly performed by hand. This technique creates distinctive patterns and textures, with natural variations in the dye that contribute to the uniqueness of each piece. This traditional hand-dyeing method ensures that no two handkerchiefs are exactly alike, adding to their charm and uniqueness.

The cloth becomes softer the more you use it, and water absorption also improves.

The material used is the same as Tenugui, meaning that this handkerchief dries easily and quickly when hung (it is recommended not to use a dryer).

Because this handkerchief can become discolored easily, please wash your hands often when first using.

Use the handkerchief only after it has completely dried.
