This organic Japanese kuromai rice has been naturally grown in Kagoshima prefecture. You can rest-assured that no chemical fertilizers or pesticides were used, so you can safely and confidently enjoy the great taste and nutritional benefits of Japanese purple rice.

Kuromai rice is often added to Japanese white rice to change its color, as well as add a boost of fiber and other nutrients. The finished rice is typically used as a side dish, or to make onigiri rice balls on special occasions.

    Tasty black rice

    The rice is very tasty, with a nutty flavor. As a whole grain rice, it has a pleasant chewiness when cooked, a bit like wild rice. The black rice creates a deep, wine red broth that you can incorporate into your dishes or use as a consumé.
