Enjoy one of Japan's most famous and chewiest delicacies with these delicious mochi rice cakes. Authentically made from 100% Japanese glutinous rice, the Gishi Square Mochi Rice Cakes will be ready to eat in just a few steps.

Mochi is one of Japan's most versatile and favorite foods. You can use it in savory foods, like miso soup, or you can make desserts and sweets out of it. Enjoy eating these tasty mochi cakes in a variety of ways, with kinako (roasted soy bean powder), wrapped with bacon or nori seaweed, adding it to soup, or with sweet azuki red bean paste.

Mochi is an ancient Japanese treat made of glutinous rice flour called mochigome. It has a subtle yet rich flavor of Japanese rice, and an interesting chewy texture. Many kinds of traditional Japanese sweets are made from mochi such as daifuku, a round mochi with sweet fillings such as red bean paste, white bean paste, or strawberries.

Place submerged in a bowl of water and heat for 1 minute, to 1 minute and 40 seconds in a 600w microwave.

To cook in a toaster oven, heat for approximately 4 to 7 minutes, then turn off the heat, and leave inside the oven for a further 1-2 minutes.

    Dear Christina,

Thank you for sharing your experience with mochi preparation. I understand that it can be a bit challenging, especially for those trying it for the first time. For optimal results, I recommend placing the mochi in a bowl of water and microwaving it for 1 to 1 minute and 40 seconds on a 600w setting. Alternatively, if you prefer using a toaster oven, heat it for approximately 4 to 7 minutes, then turn off the heat and leave it inside for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Mochi is incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed in various ways, whether in savory dishes like miso soup or as delightful desserts. Consider pairing it with kinako, wrapping it with bacon or nori, or serving it with sweet azuki red bean paste for a delicious treat. I hope you find these tips helpful and enjoy experimenting with this delightful Japanese delicacy!

    Best regards,
    Japanese Taste
